If you’re local and unless you are living under a rock, the big news buzzing around is that our IKEA finally opened up last week! In true Ikea fashion they were giving away $1,000 gift gard every 15 minutes for the first hour it was open. Apparently people lined up for the opening at like 6PM the night before!! No thank you. I was hoping to let the rush die down a little bit and check it out in a few weeks since I’ve never been to one of their stores but by the time Friday rolled around I told B to get prepared because we were going after work. Safe to say he needed a very strong whiskey after the experience hahaha.
I went in with one thing and one thing only in mind, I wanted a damn tree! I won’t get into too much detail about my experience because when I store finally opens up that was this anticipated – things are going to be nuts. It look a while to find parking, which ended up being way down the back. There was crowds and steering the shopping cart trying not to knock over a glass item or a kid running around was a task on it’s own but like I said, this was all expected. I was feeling very overwhelmed in the beginning and almost lost my shit but luckily B is a trooper and was able to calm me down, along with handle the shopping cart so I didn’t run anyone over.
Back to the plant situation. I’m not sure what came over me but it was basically like “Our home needs new plants to give it life and it needs them now.” Thankfully they were all 30% off! I originally was going to get an artificial potted plant because hello, do you know me? But B spotted the beauty above and we both knew it was the one. We continued walking around and I still couldn’t help but notice everyone is grabbing some of the gorgeous bigger trees. I realllllllly wanted one but my thumbs are in no way green so I kept walking until he noticed me second guessing myself and said “Let’s go get a big tree to”. Squeeeeeeeeee. Just call me jungle girl.
I also snagged a matching MUSKOT plant pot for each, how chic do they look? (are people still saying chic?!) Love me some crisp white!
I had absolutely no idea that Ikea sold some food items as well! I despise the taste of juice (unless it’s freshly pressed and green) and refuse to put any of the chemicals into my body that most drinks have – I’m looking at you soda. I’m always chugging water and typically refuse to drink anything else except naturally flavored carbonated water and coffee (okay and wine 😉) but the Dryck Bubbel Paron sparkling pear drink caught my eye. At $3.99 a bottle, I figured it would be perfect to keep around the house for guests or when I’m wanting something a little sweet. As we turned the corner they were actually handing out samples so it was perfect. If you’re a fan of juice or anything with a lot of flavor you probably won’t enjoy it but I really did. The pear taste is light but refreshing.
Lastly, I picked up some plain white napkins and this Elritsa Lazy Susan that was on sale for $8.99! It matches our kitchen table perfect and acts as a great center piece.
++ I have a crazy week scheduled but if time allows, I plan to head back within the next week or so to pick up this VILDAPEL plant stand for our large tree. I also have my eyes on the VITTSJO nesting tables which I think would be perfect for our living room.
