Happy Friday everyone! I hope you had a fantastic week. Yesterday after work, my girlfriend and I went to Gahan House for supper and it was amazing. We mainly went because their pumpkin beer is back on top and oh my gosh, it was amazing! I’m not a big fan of most craft beers but this was delicious and the glass was rimmed with cinnamon sugar that I think made the drink. It’s funny because when I got home, B had surprised me with a few cans of Nine Locks pumpkin ale as well!
Today I thought I would share my October goals. This isn’t something I normally do but monthly goals are some of my favorite posts to read from other bloggers so I am going to start trying to incorporate them more into HKB as well.
Stick to a daily skincare routine
Back in the summer I posted about my updated morning skincare routine that really helped my skin but lately, I haven’t been sticking to it and I’m starting to notice a difference and not the good kind! With the weather changing, I really need to develop a routine that works again and stick to it, morning and night.
Try 2 new recipes
Now that BBQ season is winding down and I’m getting tired of having a tossed salad with grilled chicken every day, I’ve been struggling with what to make for supper. I’m toying with the idea of doing a weekly meal plan or even just a rough draft because by the time I get home from work at 5:30ish, I barely have enough brain cells to cook supper let alone try and decide what we want. We have a brand new crockpot that has hardly been touched but I am determined to get a lot of use out of it this fall and winter. What are your favorite crockpot recipes?
This is totally a #firstworldproblem but my beauty stash is given me SUCH anxiety lately. A few months ago I went through my makeup and decluttered a lot of makeup and skincare products but it doesn’t seem to be enough. I still have way more makeup than I use and products floating around unopened still. I’ve recently stopped accepting most PR packages that are pitched my way unless it’s a product I know I will use.
I have the biggest urge to toss everything out and go back to keeping just 1 small makeup bag but I know that won’t happen. I have plans this long weekend to deep clean my vanity and really pay mind to what I’m keeping and how often do I reach for it.
Blog at least 2X a week + have posts scheduled
I can’t help but roll my own damn eyes as I’m currently writing this post at 9:43am the day it was suppose to go live. I have soooo many ideas for posts I want to write and also half completed posts in my draft folder but finding the time to sit down and get them out has been hard lately. As frazzled as I get with the blogging world, I am in no way ready to step away from it so it’s time I sit down to come up with a scedule that will work. One that helps me put out great content but also doesn’t have me feeling like my blog is “work” that will burn me out.
Connect on Instagram
I spend all day staring at a computer screen and typing up emails so really the last thing that I want to do once the evening comes around is spend time on my phone. When I am on my phone, I literally skim through Instagram so fast that I barely even see what pictures are being posted. Social media was once my favorite way to communicate with not only blog readers but my favorite bloggers as well and I miss that! Although I’m still annoyed with Twitter (and basically just use it to call Trump an arsehole), I’m trying to get into the swing of things again with Instagram interaction.
Create a “office” space
In my old, old apartment, I had the perfect set up. It was a gorgeous white desk which stored my makeup on half then acted as a desk for my laptop on the other. I’ve decided that I’m either going to switch out my makeup vanity in the spare bedroom and have a multi-purpose desk like before OR set up a “get sh*t done” space in the basement. I get the most work done when I’m sat down at a desk instead of typing up a post in bed or on the couch watching TV so I’m hoping this will help with my first goal.

Have a great weekend!
