One of my favorite parts about summer is the adventure that comes with it. All of my fellow Canadians will know that we only have a few months out of the year to get outside so when summer hits, I like to pack up my car and explore this beautiful province as much as possible. With Halifax being centrally located, we have the pleasure of being a short driving distance from magical places all over Nova Scotia. As you know, we recently took a roadtrip to Digby and knowing B wanted to take the “country route”, I knew my outfit would have to provide the ultimate comfort.
Before getting into my outfit details I wanted to take a moment to stress that the most important thing about a road trip is ensuring your vehicle is ready for the adventure, regardless of if you’re traveling 30 minutes or 4 hours. This means checking the air in your tires, topping up your windshield wash along with other fluids and so on. Since moving, I now live further out of the city and travel mostly by highway so for me it’s very important to make sure I am keeping my car in the best shape possible and that includes properly timed oil changes. My car is currently a 3 years old and I plan to keep it a few more so I always make sure to get it serviced regularly. Growing up, I was very fortunate to have a father that new everything about cars – why he isn’t a mechanic full time is beyond me! Once I hit 16 and was able to get my beginners he made sure I also new the basics of my car including putting on a spare tire and changing my own motor oil.
With Canadian Tire being a short distance from my office, it’s super convenient for me to run out my lunch hour to get the Quaker State® Ultimate Durability™ Full Synthetic Motor Oil I’ll need to make sure my car is adventure ready! Made for life in Canada is exactly what I think of when in Canadian Tire because they truly have everything you will need, and trust me – your car NEEDS this oil. Let’s just say it won’t be a pleasant road trip without it 🙂 I won’t even tell you how much a simple dealership oil change cost me but it’s safe to say that my face beamed when I seen the amazing price point of the Quaker State® Ultimate Durability™ Full Synthetic Motor Oil .
In the past, my road trip outfits were definitely comfort over style and while I still like to ensure what I’m wearing is as comfortable as possible – I try to put a little more effort into what I’m wearing because you really don’t know where you’ll end up or what blog post picture opportunities will come up! Knowing we would be indulging in a decent sized lunch and still have a fair share of driving to do afterwards, I knew I wanted to wear something that would not only be comfortable but cute as well.
Wearing most jeans for any longer than an hour is enough for me to loose my mind so I knew in order to last for hours sitting down in the car, I needed to bust out my favorite pair from Dynamite Kate’s. Not only is the denim super soft and stretchy but the quality is amazing – plus they offer a variety of washes. I prefer my jeans to be a distressed denim but they have the classic dark wash if that’s more your style! I paired the jeans with my beloved blush pink memory foam Walmart shoes – perfect for walking around in.
Since I like to keep the bottom half of my outfit very minimal, my favorite way to turn a blah outfit into heck yes is with a fun top. I know I’m not the only one who has been loving the peplum tops from Old Navy, stylish and affordable. I am now the owner of this relaxed peplum tank in three different colors, yes it’s that comfortable! The feminine ruffle details give the shirt a sophisticated look yet the cotton material makes it very breathable for wearing in a car on hot days. Since peplum tops can fit us curvy girls in not the right places, I like to pair mine with a long tassel necklace so it’s not so boxy.
And there you have it! My go-to road trip style.
