Good morning and most importantly, happy Monday! For today’s Beautiful Mess prompt, we are going to be sharing our Pinterest fails with each other. Can I just talk about what we would all do without Pinterest? It’s funny because I was actually telling to my friend this the other day, what did we do before Pinterest? Where could we search cute DIY’s, what to make for dinner, an at home workout for a killer ass or blogging tips regarding any subject?
You see, I’m one of those lucky souls with a certain magical power. That magical power being I can almost always screw up anything that I touch. This can range from recipes, crafting projects and even recipes. So when I say I’ve had plenty of Pinterest fails in my past, home girl means it. That time I made Oreo bottomed cupcakes and almost burned my kitchen to the ground or what about that all green gluten free wheat free dairy free vegan smoothie I made that tasted like a straight up garbage disposal smells? (No word of a lie, that stank filled my kitchen for days). While I’ve made some delicious success’s thanks to Pinterest, I’m talking about you lemon blueberry loaf, I have definitely had my share of things that have gone wrong … terribly wrong. To save you all from a lot of cringe worthy disasters, I thought I would share with you one recipe that went terribly wrong.

A few months ago I had a day off from work and decided to be a nice roommate and make dinner. Perfect, in comes Pinterest, I knew I would be able to find something delicious that hopefully wouldn’t require more than 10 ingredients because, who has time for that? Not this gal. After much searching and let’s be honest here, drooling … I decided I would try my hand at some baked mac and cheese, specially this recipe. Seems pretty easy right? And not to mention delicious. Off I went to the grocery store with my ingredient list in hand, there was NO way I was going to screw this up. Heck, I even splurged and bought all of the brand name ingredients! After getting my supplies, I grabbed and coffee and headed home to get a head start on dinner just in case it took longer than the recipe called for. An important thing though folks, the thing with trying your hand at a new recipe in hopes it will turn out great is making sure you read the directions from start to finish thoroughly and I don’t just mean each ingredient. I mean, make sure you pay attention to the small print at the bottom clearly stating this recipe ends up with around 5-6 servings!! Yeaaaaaaaaa, I totally missed that part when I was searching for something to make for two people -__-
Long story short, read the directions and recipe carefully. I ended up with about 7 pounds of baked mac and cheese that could have easily fed a family of 5 for about 3 suppers! And yes, the blogger in me is totally kicking my own self in the ass for not taking a picture!
